A reconnection to my childhood. Glitter, beads, and ribbon all make appearances in several different pieces. Alongside the vibrant color scheme, the paintings work towards creating a bright and colorful atmosphere. I had the chance to create paintings that reminded me of that sense of play, joy, and wonder I have come to associate with my childhood.

An abstracted reflection on how those I have surrounded myself with have shaped who I am as an artist today. My relationships (familial, platonic, and earthly) have nurtured me, both the good and the bad have left lasting impact on me. Like a plant in a garden I have grown into the person I am today because of the people in my environment. 

​Hecho a Mano is an exploration of how maternal figures preserve culture by passing down traditions to new generations. My grandmother was my cultural guide growing up. Each tablecloth and napkin on display in Hecho a Mano is an art piece handcrafted by my grandmother, mother, aunts, and other women in my life. Each piece showcases the preservation of culture, as the women from each generation has learned to embroider, they have embedded their own personalities to the craft.
